Domain Names

We recommend that the domain name should include or comprise the search terms or phrase that surfers might use to find you. So, if 'Protea Industries' is a carpet cleaning business in Durban, its domain should be 'durban-carpet-cleaners.co.za'.

It could be 'durbancarpetcleaners.co.za' which should work just as well but the former version is more legible and we believe that it is easier to remember and to type. The big 'nono' is when the end of one word and the beginning of the next are the same letter - usually 's'. 'clothessteaming.co.za' may be typed both with and without the two 's's' and clothes-steaming.co.za is both easier to read and more descriptive.

.co.za or .com?

Google seems inconsistent here. We have clients with websites using both domain extensions. In 'google.co.za' the .co.za websites will feature and the .com will occasionally feature and then disappear for a while. In 'google.com' it is the reverse. If your clientele is from overseas then use .com but if mainly local, use .co.za.
